The Thirty Major Causes Of Failure. How Many Of These Are Holding You Back?
Life's greatest tragedy consist of men and women who earnestly try, and fail! as compared to the few who succeed.
I have had the privilege of analyzing several thousand men and women, 98% of whom were classed as "failures." There is something radically wrong with a civilization, and a system of education, which permit 98% of the people to go through life as failures. But I did not write this book for the purpose of moralizing on the rights and wrongs of the world; that would require a book a hundred times the size of this one.
My analysis work proved that there are thirty major reasons for failure,and thirteen major principals which people accumulate fortune.
In this chapter, a description of the thirty major causes of failure will be given. As you go over the list, check yourself by it, point by point, for the purpose of discovering how many of these causes-of-failure stand between you and success.
1.UNFAVORABLE HEREDITARY BACKROUND. There is but little, if anything, which can be done for people who are born with a deficiency in brain power. This philosophy offers but one method of bridging this weakness-through the aid of the Master Mind. Observe with profit,however, that this is the only one of the thirty causes of failure which may not be easily corrected by any individual.
2. LACK OF A WELL-DEFINED PURPOSE IN LIFE There is no hope of success for the person who does not have a central purpose, or definite goal at which to aim. Ninety-eight out of every hundred of those whom I have analyzed, had no such aim. Perhaps this was the

Experience has proven that the best educated people are often those who are known as "self-made," or self educated. It takes more than a college degree to make one a person of education. Any person who is educated is one whos has learned to get whatever he wants in life without violating the rights of others. Education consists, not so much of knowledge, but of knowledge effectively and persistently APPLIED. Men are paid, not merely for what they know, but more particularly for WHAT THEY DO WITH THAT WHICH THEY KNOW.
5. LACK OF SELF-DISCIPLINE. Disapline comes through self-control. This means that one must control all negative qualities. Before you can control conditions, you must first control yourself. Self-Mastery is the hardest job you will ever tackle. If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.You may see at one and the same time both your best friend and your greatest enemy, by stepping in front of a mirror.
6. ILL HEALTH. No person may enjoy outstanding success without good healt. Many of the causes of ill health are subject to mastery and control. These, in the main are: a. Overeating of foods not conducive to healt.
b. Wrong H\habits of though; giving expression to negatives
c. Wrong use of ,and over indulgence in sex
d. Lack of proper physical exercise
e. An inadequate supply of fresh air, due to improper breathing.

"Old Man Procrastination" stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting his opportunity to spoil one's chances of success. Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the "time to be right" to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be "just right." Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.
9. LACK OF PERSISTANCE. Most of us are good "starters" but poor "finishers" of everything we begin. Moreover, people are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat. There is no substitute for PERSISTANCE. The person who makes PERSISTANCE his watch word, discovers that "Old Man Failure" finally becomes tired, and makes his departure. Failure cannot cope with PERSISTANCE.
10. NEGATIVE PERSONALITY. There is no hope of success for the person who repels people through a negative personality. Success comes through the application of POWER, and power is attained through the cooperative efforts of other people. A negative personality will not induce cooperation.
11. LACK OF CONTROLLED SEXUAL URGE. Sex energy is the most powerful of all the stimuli which move people into ACTION. Because it is the most powerful of the emotions, it must be controlled, through transmutation, and converted into other channels.
12. UNCONTROLLED DESIRE FOR "SOMETHING FOR NOTHING." The gambling instinct drives millions of people to failure. Evidence of this may be found in a study of the Wall Street crash of '29, during which millions of people tried to make money by gambling on stock margins.
13.LACK OF A WELL DEFINED POWER OF DECISION. Men who succeed reach decisions promptly, and change them, if at all, very slowly. Men who fail, reach decisions, if any at all very slowly, and change them frequently, and quickly. Indecision and procrastination are twin brothers. Where one is found, the other may usually be found also.Kill off this pair before they completely "hog-tie" you to the treadmill of failure.
14. ONE OR MORE OF THE SIX BASIC FEARS. These fears have been analyzed for you in a later chapter. They must be mastered before you can market your services effectively.
15. WRONG SELECTION OF A MATE IN MARRIAGE. This a most common cause of failure. The relationship of marriage brings people intimately into contact. Unless this relationship is harmonious, failure is likely to follow. Moreover, it will be a form of failure that is marked by misery and unhappiness, destroying all signs of AMBITION.
16. OVER-CAUTION. The person who takes no chances, generally has to take whatever is left when others are through choosing. Over-caution is as bad as under-caution. Both are extremes to be guarded against. Life itself is filled with the element of chance.
17. WRONG SELECTION OF ASSOCIATES IN BUSINESS. This is one of the most common causes of failure in business. In marketing personal services, one should use great care to select an employer who will be an inspiration, and who is, himself intelligent and successful. We emulate those with whom we associate most closely. Pick an employer who is worth emulating.
18. SUPERSTITION AND PREJUDICE. Superstition is a form of fear. it is also a sign of ignorance. Men who succeed keep open minds and are afraid of nothing.
19. WRONG SELECTION OF A VOCATION. No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like. The most essential step in the marketing of personal services is that of selecting an occupation into which you can throw yourself wholeheartedly.
20. LACK OF CONCENTRATION OF EFFORT. The "jack of all trades" seldom is good at any. Concentrate all of your efforts on one DEFINITE CHIEF AIM.
21. THE HABIT OF INDISCRIMINATE SPENDING. The spend thrift cannot succeed, mainly because he stands eternally in FEAR OF POVERTY. Form the habit of systematic saving by putting aside a definite percentage of your income. Money in the bank gives one a very safe foundation of COVERAGE when bargaining for the sale of personal services. Without money, one must take what on is offered, and be glad to get it.
22.LACK OF ENTHUSIASM. Without enthusiasm one cannot be convincing. Moreover enthusiasm is contagious, and the person who has it, under control, is generally welcome in any group of people.

25. INABILITY TO COOPERATE WITH OTHERS. More people lose their positions and their big opportunities in life, because of this fault, than for all reasons combined. It is a fault which no well-informed business man, or leader will tolerate.
26.POSSESSION OF POWER THAT WAS NOT AQUIRED THROUGH SELF EFFORT. (Sons and daughters of wealthy men, and others who inherit money which they did not earn). Power in the hands of one who did not acquire it gradually, is often fatal to success. QUICK RICHES are more dangerous than poverty.
27. INTENTIONAL DISHONESTY. There is no substitute for honesty. One may be temporarily dishonest by force of circumstances over which on has no control, without permanent damage. But, there is NO HOPE for the person who is dishonest by choice. Sooner or later, his deeds will catch up with him, and he will pay by loss of reputation, and perhaps even loss of liberty.
28. EGOTISM AND VANITY. These qualities serve as red lights which warn others to keep away. THEY ARE FATAL TO SUCCESS.
29. GUESSING INSTEAD OF THINKING. Most people are too indifferent or lazy to acquire FACTS with which to THINK ACCURATELY. They prefer to act on "Opinions" created by guesswork or snap judgements.
30. LACK OF CAPITAL. This is a common cause of failure among those who start out in business for the first time, without sufficient reserve of capital to absorb the shock of their mistakes, and to carry them over until they have established a REPUTATION.
31. Under this, name any particular cause of failure from which you have suffered that has not been included in the foregoing list.
In these thirty major causes of failure is found a description of the tragedy of life, which obtains for practically ever person who tries and fails. It will be helpful if you can induce someone who knows you well to go over this list with you, and help to analyze you by the thirty causes of failure. It may be beneficial if you try this alone. Most people cannot see themselves as others see them. You may be one who cannot.
The oldest of admonitions is "Man, know thyself!" If you market merchandise successfully, you must know the merchandise. The same is true in marketing personal services. You should know all your weaknesses in order that you may either bridge them or eliminate them entirely. Are you aware of who you really are?
Are you aware of who you really are, and of your connection to all things Universal. You are spirit with a body, personality and ego, not the other way around.
Lighten up. Have joy. Don't be so hard on yourself and others. The Soul expresses itself in joyous expansion, playfulness, FUN.
Try not to wish you were someplace else or doing something else. Try not to fear. Try not to think there's something you lack. Because the truth is that you have everything.
You are the cause of everything you see around you. So why would you have any negativity toward anything or anyone in your life? If you don't wish to have it around you any more, simply ask yourself what part or aspect of you is causing or creating that outward experience. Then you will discover something about yourself, and that discovery will help you create the greater versoin of yourself through change.
You may not be conscious of the choices you are making, but that is what is creating your life. Some choices are made unconsciously, but your world is created by your subconcious, conscious, super conscious, these three parts all make their choices independently, the goal is to get these three parts to align with each other. you do this through the expression of Joy and I am statements.
You must listen to intuitions, and feelings if you want to speed up growth and reduce setbacks and suffering.
Feelings and intuitions are the language your soul uses to communicate with you. Not emotions these are created by you mind in response to how you view life circumstances. Feelings are how your body feels. Your feelings will tell you whether your on Joy, Peace, Happiness ect. these are all indications that you are headed for something that will please you.
Negative feelings like fear, depression,anger,frustration, ect are indications that you are not headed toward what you want.
These negative feelings are there as feedback only this gives you a chance to change what you are doing and thinking.
Inspiration and desire come from your soul, seeking to express itself as minifestation in the physical world. develop your intuition, be cognizant of the little voice in your head or the feeling in your gut. Pay attention to your desires and inspirations.
When you hear that voice that tells you to do something or not this is your higher self communicating with you through intuition, if you don't pay attention to it and follow its advice, you will create trouble for yourself. When you follow the advice this is when wonderful phenomenal life experiences are created for you.
There are truly no limits other than those you have put on yourself. follow your intutions be true to yourself. Be unstoppable by refusing to stop.

ADM- Make a decision in advance then stick to it!
Lets talk about makeing a decision and sticking to it. Bob Proctor calls this Advanced Decision Making.
ADM-make a decision now and when it comes up in the future, there will be no questions in your mind, on whether to do it or not because the decision will have already been made.
He states that he went to a bar one night, ordered a drink, and then took a look around the bar, it was smokey, and people were just sitting around as they usually did every night. He realized that this was no way to live life, he made the decision to never drink again at that moment, and he has not touched a drink since. Now when he goes out and someone ask him for a drink he does not even think about it because he make a ADM a long time ago that he wouldn't.
Now what is it that you do not like in you life that you would like to make a decision to stop? Write the words ADM somewhere on you hand that no one can see, and look at it to remind yourself daily that this is your decision then do it.
I made the decision to eat healthier foods, and give my family more healthier cooking.
I knew I need something to help me with this, so I went out and bought 3 cookbooks that could help me to create healthier meals for myself and my family, I discussed it with everyone, I said if I can create meals that taste good and are healthier I expect that everyone pitches in to help this happen.
That is exactly what I did, I bought foods that went with the recipes in these books and now I am on the way to healthier diets for the family and myself
I made a ADM.
I will post the recipes on facebook in case others would like to try them out. So far they have been very tasty, I do not feel we are missing out.

ADM-make a decision now and when it comes up in the future, there will be no questions in your mind, on whether to do it or not because the decision will have already been made.
He states that he went to a bar one night, ordered a drink, and then took a look around the bar, it was smokey, and people were just sitting around as they usually did every night. He realized that this was no way to live life, he made the decision to never drink again at that moment, and he has not touched a drink since. Now when he goes out and someone ask him for a drink he does not even think about it because he make a ADM a long time ago that he wouldn't.
Now what is it that you do not like in you life that you would like to make a decision to stop? Write the words ADM somewhere on you hand that no one can see, and look at it to remind yourself daily that this is your decision then do it.

Risk Taking
The dictionairy difines risk as "exposing oneself to the chance of loss." You may avoid suffering and sorrow if you take no risk, but you cannot learn, love, change, and grow. What causes individuals to shy away from taking a risk, even if it is a low risk and will give them something they really want? High on most people's list would be fear of loss, failure and percieved humiliation. But why would we automatically think that we would fail at something.
I believe this dates back to our childhood. A small child is a natural born risk taker. The child never considers the consequences of falling when learning to walk. Falling is a natural part of mastering the skill. Why then, would we not continue to view any type of risk with the same consideration? What happens to us?
When you were taking your first steps, it was probably quite common to hear your parents say, "Be careful, you might fall." I think that for some, this begins the pattern of playing it safe. Think of how much better equipped we would be to face life's challenges, if we'd repeatedly heard, "Don't worry about falling, because that's how you learn." Many of the greatest lessons you'll recieve in life are going to come from your failures.
Failing will never make you a failure unless you quit. unfortunately, very few people heard that when they were young. The vast majority of our population have been mentally programmed to play it safe.
Why is it that we do not see the process of reaching our goals as having steps similar to the ones a child must take in order to learn to walk? We will stumble and fall in the learning process, but success can only be reached when we are prepared to take those steps, all of them, even the ones where we fail. The real win is the confidence and experience we aquire which translates into new opportunities for growth, enjoyment and expansion in all areas of our life.
There is a four letter word that most parents use around their children so frequently, that the children pick it up before too long it is buried in the treasury of their sub-conscious mind. That four letter word is CAN'T, Can't is a word that paralyzes any constructive progress. The only alternative to that four letter word is its polar opposite-I CAN, You don't necessarily have to be very smart to win, but you must be willing.
Reaching the goal is not success; success is moving toward the goal. Taking risk is essential when you want to reach a goal and the purpose of goals is growth. When you challenge yourself, you bring more of yourself to the surface. If you dream of living your life in a big way, you must accept risk-taking as a very real part of that apprenticeship.
I clearly remember the firs time I heard Earl Nightingale. Earl told a story about a farmer who was out walking in a field. He looked down and saw a tiny pumpkin growing on a vine. Nearby, he spotted a small glass jar. The farmer reached down and placed the tiny pumpkin inside the small jar. The pumpkin continued to grow until it filled the inside of the jar beyond which it could not grow.
There are a number of people like that tiny pumpkin. They limit themselves and refuse to take a risk. They never truly test the strength of their abilities. Too many go through their entire lives playing it safe. They never step out and bet on the surest thing in the world themselves.
If you hope to accumulate great wealth or achieve high goals, then the first few steps of that journey will involve a high degree of risk. You must turn your back on safety and security. To make it big, you must take big risk.
Elenor Roosevelt said. " You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face." Follow her advice and liberate yourself from the crippling emotional state of fear and enter into a world of freedom.
